Learning More about Space

For preschool, we studied outer space in June. We borrowed books from the library and learned more about constellations, planets, solar system, space dust, stars, astronauts, and the sun. Our four year old daughter also practiced writing the letter S and learned how to spell STAR.

Here are some of our SPACE ART PROJECTS for preschool.
Black Hole:

 To make:
Supplies include a box, black spray paint, glitter, glue, string or pipe cleaners, paper for planets.

First, spray paint your box black and then add glitter swirls in the back to represent the black hole. Add glitter, star stickers, planets, etc. to make it look like outer space. You can cut a hole in the back for the black hole. I attached the circle planets with pipe cleaners from the top of the box.


Space Dust: 

To Make:
Supplies include a black card stock paper, paint, glitter, and a tooth brush. Use an old tooth brush to splatter paint.  Sprinkle your glitter on the wet paint to make it sparkle.

MARS:

Supplies included a red piece of paper and chalk. We used red, orange, white, and yellow chalk to draw the rings of Mars.

Crescent Moon:


Draw and paint crescent moon shapes on card stock. Then add extra star stickers or glitter for stars. 

Neil Armstrong
At a wax museum, we found Neil Armstrong, the first person to walk on the moon.

The kids had a blast pretending they were astronauts or aliens in space at the Rocket Ship Park.
